COVID-19 update from Lifting Victoria
Coronavirus (COVID-19) is having far-reaching impacts on businesses throughout the world including Australia.
We understand that some of our customers are choosing to limit the number of contractors that visit their premises in order to reduce employee exposure risk. We want to remind you that it is still essential to remember the other risks to your employee’s health and safety.
In particular, it should not be forgotten that there are mandatory requirements under the relevant Australian Standards and the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004, regarding the inspection of your lifting, rigging and height safety equipment. This is especially the case where equipment is still being used outside of the minimum inspection periods.
Lifting Victoria has implemented an Action Plan in response to the Corona Virus threat, which not only meets but exceeds the safety measures being prescribed by Government. Any Lifting Victoria employee who is feeling unwell or who has knowingly come into contact with a person infected by Corona Virus is to cease work immediately and self-isolate until such time as a full medical clearance from a doctor is obtained. Rest assured that no Lifting Victoria employee is in any doubt as to what the requirements in relation to reporting illness at this time are.
Lifting Victoria will continue to work with our customers to find a solution that satisfies any concerns. These include but are not limited to:
- Facilitating inspections of your equipment offsite, at our workshops. Our branches are in Geelong and Laverton North.
- Facilitating inspections on your site outside of normal business hours.
If you have any concerns about your upcoming inspections, then we ask that you get in touch with our sales team as soon as possible to discuss this.
This is an evolving situation and we will keep you updated as things change. Our priority is to always ensure the health and safety of our staff and customers.
